about us

foxfalda is a new fashion brand for beautiful plus size women, specialising in sizes 20-26.

Born of our founder Rachel’s frustration and disappointment of what is currently available to buy in the plus size market.

Having spent years of buying ‘only what fits’, rather what she actually likes, Rachel has decided to launch her own range in the hope that she and others like her, can finally look forward to buying some good quality, stylish clothes that they can feel proud to wear.

an interview with our founder

What has inspired you to start foxfalda?

Being plus-size, I have spent years buying only ‘what fits’, rather what I would actually like to wear, so decided to launch my own range.

Have you always wanted to own a fashion brand?

No, not at all - I can’t sew and have never really been ‘fashionable’! But somewhere along the way, the idea took hold, and I am loving it.  This is something new, just for me. Something that I can test myself, and hopefully prove myself with.  Whilst also filling a much-needed gap in the market.

What does foxfalda stand for?

A positive clothes shopping experience for the plus-size community.

Why should someone shop at foxfalda.com?

I want to create a space that myself and fellow plus-sizers can enjoy shopping in and really look forward to visiting.

The clothing has not just been ‘made bigger’ as part of a standard range, but that has truly been thought about – using high quality, natural materials, with a flattering fit.

We are a small independent brand who really understands and cares about their customers and wants to get to know them.

How do you want women to feel wearing foxfalda?

Themselves! Not forced into buying certain clothing styles, just because that’s what is available and what companies think plus-size clothing should be.

How would you describe the brand foxfalda?

Safe and reassuring. Somewhere you can head to in the knowledge that there will always something in your size. No more panicking of ‘where to head to before that next holiday’? Or ‘where can I treat myself next payday’?

Also, a brand that offers sensibly priced, stylish clothes which you feel good wearing.

What has been your worst shopping experience?

Most of them! It has been a very long time, since I dared hope to shop on the high street – occasionally I will be bold enough to venture past the accessories section and peruse some rails… but as I optimistically flick through to the back end of the hangers, I am soon met with the all too familiar realisation that the range stops two or three sizes before mine, or the limited number of items they did have in my size have already sold out.

What is your favourite item in the foxfalda collection? And why?

It must be the ‘Lowenna’ skirt, the first design we created.  It’s simple, flattering and has pockets (!). I love the custom-designed print, from which you can pick out several colours to coordinate with. It can be dressed up or down and is a super useful addition to my wardrobe.

Have you got plans to expand the range?

Absolutely.  My vision has always been to create a sea of beautiful skirts that customers can enjoy browsing through and pick the one they really like, not just ‘the best of a bad bunch’ from a limited range. However, we are only at the start of our journey, so it will likely take a little bit of time. We have started with ‘skirts and tops’ as these are my comfort zone (my uniform of the past 20 years) and what I really struggle to find nice versions of in the marketplace.

What makes a good plus size item of clothing?

Something that is flattering to the wearer. Something that is light and comfortable. Something that you can rely on - that no matter how you are feeling that day, you know that it fit wells and you look good in it.

How would you describe your ideal customer?

Straightforward.  They know what suits them and they know what they want to buy.  They revisit each season to freshen up their look and become loyal to the brand.

Who inspires you in the plus size world?

I have recently become aware of Laura Adlington’s content on Instagram and have been really enjoying that.  I remembered Laura from her Great British Bake-Off days and am thrilled to see how well she has been received since.  She is relatable and realistic and always looks fantastic in whatever she wears.  I also now listen to the ‘Go Love Yourself!’ podcast she hosts with Lauren Smith, and I am pleased to see the recognition they are receiving for that.  So much of what they have to say I am sat nodding in agreement with.  It is encouraging to know that word is getting out that us plus-sizers just want regular clothes, sold to us in a regular way, with some thought having gone in as to how we might feel wearing them.

What is your passion outside of fashion?

My family and cramming as much into life as possible.

When is your favourite time of day?

Certainly not first thing! Am somewhat of a slow riser… Would have to be early evening when the first chilled wine is poured, and I can sit outside and contemplate the day.

Describe your ideal holiday?

Anywhere Mediterranean.  Days spent by the pool or sightseeing, followed by aperitvo hour, supper at a traditional restaurant and a stroll round a local night market with my daughter – heaven!
